Dáil Eireann Debate
402. Mr. Crowe asked the Minister for Finance the number of schools in the Dublin south west area which have been surveyed as part of the asbestos management programme; and if finance will be made available, in view of the health and safety concerns involved, for works to be carried out in the next 12 months on any of those schools. [15595/02]
Minister of State at the Department of Finance (Mr. Parlon): To date, 59 schools in the Dublin south west area have been surveyed by the Office of Public Works to determine the location, type, form and condition of any asbestos material present and the steps necessary to manage the material safely.
The remaining 20 or so schools in the area will be surveyed over the coming month as part of the national programme. The allocation of funds and the scheduling of future works will depend on the outcome of these surveys.
