Mr. P. Breen
asked the
Minister for the Environment and Local Government
if money will be made available to Ennis Town Council for emergency repair for housing under its application for funding under the RAPID programme for housing; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
[25119/02]
Minister for the Environment and Local Government (Mr. Cullen):
The RAPID programme is a focused initiative to front load and prioritise investment already indicated under the national development plan in the most disadvantaged areas. As many as 45 areas have been included in the programme. Strand I of RAPID relates to 25 urban areas and Strand II to 20 provincial towns including Ennis.
Plans for Strand II areas, including those for Ennis, have recently been received in my Department and are currently being examined. Some of the Ennis projects relate to local authority hous[1489] ing estates and will necessitate evaluation as well as consultation with the local authority concerned and the Area Development Management Limited RAPID support team.
Question No. 337 answered with Question No. 330.
