Mr. Ring
asked the
Minister for Social and Family Affairs
the amount of money paid out for the second half of each year, for the past five years, to dentists under the dental treatment scheme.
[6729/03]
Minister for Social and Family Affairs (Mary Coughlan):
Total expenditure under this scheme for each of the past five years and the amount of this which was spent in the last six months of each year is as follows:
| Year | Total Expenditure | Amount paid in last 6 months |
|---|---|---|
| € | (€) |
|
| 1998 | 29,019,650 | 15,760,980 |
| 1999 | 33,492,430 | 18,101,822 |
| 2000 | 35,492,700 | 19,072,194 |
| 2001 | 35,000,270 | 18,670,236 |
| 2002 | 35,122,710 | 16,242,095 |
An estimated additional €1 million would have been paid in the second half on 2002 if the annual review of fees for 2002 had been agreed in time.
