573.
Mr. Naughten
asked the
Minister for Social and Family Affairs
the number of civil servants who are on transfer lists to other sections of her Department outside Dublin; the locations and numbers involved; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
[7385/03]
Minister for Social and Family Affairs (Mary Coughlan):
There are formal transfer arrangements in place, agreed between the Department of Finance and the staff unions, in respect of civil servants in both the clerical officer and staff officer grades who wish to move from Dublin to provincial locations. The transfer arrangements provide that clerical vacancies in the larger provincial offices are filled by direct recruitment and by transfer on a 50:50 basis annualised. For all other provincial locations, vacancies are filled from the transfer list. Details of the numbers of clerical officers currently on my Department's central transfer list for all locations outside of Dublin are furnished below.
The agreed arrangements also provide that, at staff officer level, one in five vacancies which arise in certain provincial locations may be filled by transfer. Details of the number of staff officers currently on the transfer list, for those locations for which formal central transfer lists apply are outlined below. There are no formal transfer arrangements in place for other general service grades.
There are 48 locations outside Dublin.
