asked the
Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform
the position with regard to a section 49 application by a person (details supplied) in County Mayo; and when this transaction will be completed.

Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform (Mr. McDowell):
I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this is an application under section 49 – acquisition of title by virtue of long possession – of the Registration of Title Act 1964 which was lodged on 14 May, 2002. Dealing Number D2002SM004682G refers. Due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49 which require detailed examination of claims for registration as owners, can take some time to process. I am further informed that queries issued to the lodging solicitor on 18 November 2002 and four reminders have been issued since that date. The latest reminder issued on 4 November 2003. I am also informed that the application cannot proceed until these queries have been satisfactorily resolved. I assure the Deputy that on receipt of a satisfactory reply, the matter will receive further attention in the Land Registry.
