Mr. McGuinness
asked the
Minister for Health and Children
the reason for the delay in providing a medical report in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who is an applicant under the disabled persons grant scheme and whose file was submitted to the South Eastern Health Board in October 2003; if a response will be expedited from the SEHB; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
[6084/04]
Minister of State at the Department of Health and Children (Mr. T. O’Malley):
The provision of health-related services for people with physical and-or sensory disabilities is a matter for the Eastern Regional Health Authority and the health boards in the first instance. Accordingly, the Deputy’s question has been referred to the chief executive officer of the South Eastern Health Board with a request that he examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
