the position regarding the application by Waterford Institute of Technology in the matter of a university for the south east region based in Waterford (details supplied); and if she will make a statement on the matter.

An application from Waterford Institute of Technology for university status, under section 9 of the Universities Act 1997, has been received and is being examined in my Department at present.
