Mr. J. O’Keeffe
asked the
Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government
if the Private Residential Tenancies Board has adequate resources; the details of the resources available in terms of manpower and moneys; and if further resources will be made available.
[40417/06]
Minister of State at the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government (Mr. N. Ahern):
Significant resources have been allocated for the operation of the Private Resi[1212]dential Tenancy Board. An increased provision of €3.7 million is available to fund the Board’s administration and services in 2006, compared with an outturn of €1.737 million in 2005. There is currently a total of 51.5 staff working in the Board. The Board has also engaged a panel of 175 mediators and adjudicators to assist with its dispute resolution functions. It is a matter for the Board to prioritise the allocation of resources and to keep the adequacy of such resources under review.
