Minister for Health and Children (Deputy Mary Harney): Information on Mary Harney  Zoom on Mary Harney  Automatic entitlement to a medical card for persons aged 70 and over ceased under the Health Act 2008 which came into effect on 1st January 2009. In response to the query posed by the Deputy, I have no reason to believe that the withdrawal of automatic entitlement gives rise to any constitutional issue.
