Dáil Eireann Debate
157. Deputy Seán Sherlock asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of people on the hip replacement waiting list in the Health Service Executive south; and the average waiting period; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [22148/09]
Minister for Health and Children (Deputy Mary Harney): The management of waiting lists generally is a matter for the HSE and the individual hospitals concerned. I have, therefore, referred the Deputy’s question to the Executive for direct reply.
158. Deputy Bobby Aylward asked the Minister for Health and Children if she will arrange for the admission of a child (details supplied) in County Laois to Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin; if they will be considered under the National Treatment Purchase Fund scheme; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [22159/09]
Minister for Health and Children (Deputy Mary Harney): As this is a service matter it has been referred to the Health Service Executive for direct reply. The National Treatment Purchase Fund arranges treatment for patients who have been on a surgical waiting list for more than three months. It is open to the person in question or anyone acting on their behalf to contact the Fund directly in relation to their case.
