Order of Business.
I wish to address the issue raised by Deputy Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin. It was clear this morning when the Minister spoke from New Zealand that she is muddled and mixed up. This is a Minister who does no...
There are approximately 20,000 people around the Tallaght area waiting to know if their X-rays were read properly.
The Taoiseach needs to address this. He is the leader of the country. This morning, he stated he has absolute confidence in the Minister. He must be one of the few left who does. In my view, this ...
This is one scandal too many. I refer to relevant legislation. Where is the whistleblowers legislation?
HIQA was called in back in June. Where is HIQA’s report?
Again, money is more important than people.
Question put: “That the proposal for dealing with No. 18 be agreed to.”
Voted No
Me thinks the lady doth protest too much.
Just the ones the Government does not like.
Will he develop a legal problem too?
Given the Taoiseach has stated he has confidence in the Minister for Health and Children, perhaps he will tell us the reason the Health Information and Quality Authority, HIQA, did not inform her in J...
It is not credible that HIQA did not inform the Minister——
——the Minister needs to come back immediately——
I put it to the Ceann Comhairle that if a whistleblower had not given this story to Mr. Fergal Bowers and he had not broken it, we still would not know about it.
The reality is that the Minister needs to come back to the House to address this question.
The Taoiseach of this country said he has confidence in the Minister for Health and Children. I say the remainder of the country does not and that she should resign.
How many people have suffered?
People have died and people have suffered because of Portlaoise, the north-east, Galway and Limerick.
When will the whistleblowers charter be introduced? When will the legislation promised in the programme for Government, which the Taoiseach and Minister for Health and Children appear to be putting o...
I say to the Ceann Comhairle——
——that thousands of people in this country are being abused by our health service, which is being mismanaged——
——-by an incompetent, lethargic, detached Minister for Health and Children who should be gone.
Private Notice Questions - Hospital Services.
Asked the minister: if she will explain the failure to have X-rays read by a consultant radiologist at Tallaght hospital, Dublin 24, from 2005 to 2009; the way she was not informed by the Health Information and Quality ...
HIQA was told there were only 4,000 X-rays involved.
I shall endeavour to do my best. I will acknowledge that Deputy Rabbitte is Rabbitte by name but not rabbit by nature. I would point out to the Minister of State that patients come first.
Free of charge, to boot. This is a very serious matter. We have had scandal after scandal in this country. Patients have suffered. Patients have died. Families have suffered. The position is that...
Excuse me, I want to remind the Minister of State of what he said. I did not hear an apology to the family of the patient who died, the persons whose delayed diagnosis may have impaired their recover...
I would like the Minister of State to answer my questions, particularly those on hospitals.
Can he assure the House that the aforesaid practices are not ongoing?
Unnecessary debts are something to be scandalised about. The Minister of State should make no mistake about it.
I thank the Minister of State for noticing.
I never mentioned “this debt” in particular but said debts are a matter of scandal.
As careful as the Minister of State is.
If the Minister of State were more careful about patient care and the care of children, we would have made much more progress.
Will the Minister of State tell us about the hospitals I mentioned? Is he not supposed to answer the questions I put?
Private Members’ Business - Land and Conveyancing Law Reform (Review of Rent in Certain Cases) (Amendment) Bill 2010: Second Stage (Resumed).
Question again proposed: “That the Bill be now read a Second Time.”
Voted Yes
Finance Bill 2010: Report Stage (Resumed) and Final Stage.
