  46.  Deputy Deirdre Clune  Information on Deirdre Clune  Zoom on Deirdre Clune   asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform  Information on Dermot Ahern  Zoom on Dermot Ahern   if a Garda Síochána code of ethics, as provided for the section 17 of the Garda Síochána Act 2005, has been completed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform (Deputy Dermot Ahern): Information on Dermot Ahern  Zoom on Dermot Ahern  Section 17(1) of the Garda Síochána Act 2005 provides that the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform shall by regulation establish a Code of Ethics that includes standards of conduct and practise for members of the Garda Síochána. Section 17(2) requires the Commissioner to prepare, at my request, a draft Code of Ethics. The Commissioner has submitted this draft Code and the necessary regulations are in the course of being drafted by Parliamentary Counsel.
