  508.  Deputy Pat Breen  Information on Pat Breen  Zoom on Pat Breen   asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Education and Skills  Information on Mary Coughlan  Zoom on Mary Coughlan   further to Parliamentary Question No. 445 of 10 November 2009, the position regarding an application in respect of a school (details supplied) in County Clare; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Tánaiste and Minister for Education and Skills (Deputy Mary Coughlan): Information on Mary Coughlan  Zoom on Mary Coughlan  I can confirm that the school referred to by the Deputy received approval in November 2009 for capital funding on to build one additional classroom.

Subsequently, the school authority applied for funding to build another additional classroom. This application was not successful as the approval in November 2009 was considered sufficient to meet the school’s accommodation needs. A letter issued to the school in May 2010 informing them of this decision.

In addition, the school was recently approved under Summer Works 2010 for the provision of access ramps to two school entrances and toilet facilities for special needs pupils.
