  524.  Deputy Seán Sherlock  Information on Sean Sherlock  Zoom on Sean Sherlock   asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government  Information on John Gormley  Zoom on John Gormley   his views regarding outstanding works in an estate (details supplied) in County Cork; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30003/10]

Minister of State at the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government (Deputy Ciarán Cuffe): Information on Ciaran Cuffe  Zoom on Ciaran Cuffe  Under sections 34(4)(g) and 180(2)(b) of the Planning and Development Act 2000, a planning authority may attach conditions to a planning permission requiring the giving of adequate security for the satisfactory completion of a proposed development and, if a development is not subsequently completed satisfactorily, apply such a security for the satisfactory completion of that development.

The drawing down of such bonds in appropriate circumstances is entirely a matter for the relevant planning authorities. I have no role in the matter and have no power to direct the planning authority in this regard.

Furthermore, under section 30 of the Planning and Development Act 2000, I am specifically precluded from exercising any power or control in relation to any particular case, including an enforcement matter, with which a planning authority or An Bord Pleanála is or may be concerned.
