[28066/11]

Minister for Education and Skills (Deputy Ruairí Quinn): Information on Ruairí Quinn  Zoom on Ruairí Quinn  The decision on eligibility for a student grant is a matter for a student’s grant awarding authority. The Deputy will appreciate that in the absence of all of the relevant details that would be contained in an individual’s application form in relation means, residency, nationality and previous academic attainment, it would not be possible for me to say whether or not a student would qualify for a grant.

For example, from the description in the details supplied by the Deputy it is not clear if the course being pursued is a further or higher education course or if the institution is an approved institution for the purposes of the student grant scheme.

To have her eligibility for a grant assessed, the student must submit a fully completed grant application form to her grant awarding authority.

[28076/11]

Further correspondence was subsequently received and a response to this issued on 4 October 2011.
