First Page Previous Page Page of 707 Next Page Last Page

  579.  Deputy Mattie McGrath  Information on Mattie McGrath  Zoom on Mattie McGrath   asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government  Information on Philip Hogan  Zoom on Philip Hogan   the options available to those who are not in a position to pay the €100 household charge up front and who wish to make the payment in instalments but who do not have direct debit facilities available to them; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1400/12]

Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government (Deputy Phil Hogan): Information on Philip Hogan  Zoom on Philip Hogan  There is a range of options available to pay the household charge. An on-line system is in place in the Local Government Management Agency (LGMA) to enable homeowners to pay the household charge by credit card/debit card or by direct debit. In addition, homeowners can make payments by cheque, postal order, etc. through the post to the LGMA. A bureau is in place in the LGMA to administer the charge on a shared service/agency basis for all local authorities. In addition, persons can attend their county/city councils to pay the household charge up to 31 March, 2012.

I am satisfied that the above options represent a comprehensive suite of payment options available to persons with a liability to pay the household charge.

Question No. 580 answered with Question No. 522.
