Business of Seanad.
I have notice from Senator Cassidy, that on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter: the closure of St. Joseph's Hospital, Coole, County Westmeath....
Order of Business.
It does not arise on the Order of Business.
It is quite out of order to raise it here but we will certainly consider what the Senator has requested.
I do not think so. Order of Business agreed to.
Shannon Free Airport Development Company Limited (Amendment) Bill, 1983 [ Certified Money Bill ]: Second and Subsequent Stages.
What report is the Senator talking about?
There is a division on in the other House so the Minister will be going. If the Senator wishes she can continue or we can adjourn for 10 or 15 minutes. Sitting suspended at 11.10 a.m. and resumed at ...
May I interrupt the Minister? The Leader of the House has something to say.
An Bille um an Ochtú Leasú ar an mBunreacht, 1982: An Tuarascáil (Atógáil) agus an Chéim Dheiridh. Eighth Amendment of the Constitution Bill, 1982: Report Stage (Resumed) and Final Stage.
May I interrupt the Senator for a minute? I hear the division bell in the other House. Would the Senator like to wait until the division is over?
I have a problem we might discuss, Senator Cassidy's motion. It is normal to take such a matter on a Thursday at 4.30. We can go on with the debate or do whatever the Senators wish.
We are breaking from normal procedure on a Thursday. That is why I mentioned it. I am in the hands of the House.
Does the House agree with that?
The only question here is that the Bill be received for final consideration.
We have not reached it yet. We are simply proposing that the Bill be received for final consideration. Is that agreed?
Does the Senator understand that this is the Fourth Stage, not the Fifth Stage?
It does not arise yet. Cuireadh agus aontaíodh an cheist. Question put and agreed to. Aontaíodh an Chéim Dheiridh a thógáil inniu. Agreed to take remaining Stage today. Cuireadh an cheist: “Go rithfea...
We can consider the text of the Bill.
That is not a point of order. Senator Robinson to continue.
Senator Lanigan will have an opportunity of making his own speech.
Referendum (Amendment) Bill, 1982: Second Stage.
There is a division in the other House.
I am afraid the Senator is getting very far away from the Bill before the House. I have been lenient enough.
I do not disagree with the Senator but I do not think the scope of the Bill would allow it. I agree it is a very valid point.
I am afraid the Senator is going back to the Constitution Bill.
It does not arise on this Bill.
It is not a matter over which the Minister has any control.
It relates only to the freedom of expression.
The question of who campaigns does not arise.
I must say to the Senator that when he stood up the last time I am sorry I did not see him.
